Another part of me is generally not the first song that people remember about Michael Jackson. Actually this song must not be underestimated. The King was living the golden age of the album Bad. Every song, every video was a worldwide success. And so, after I just can’t stop loving you, Bad, The way you make me feel, Man in the mirror, and another song we will mention later, on July 11, 1988 Michael releases the sixth single, which of course has global success.
The video is pure energy, needless to say. Every move, every word is pure energy. The King was at the highest of his career, more perfect than in Thriller’s times, if possible.
Actually we should say “Short film”. The King and Quincy Jones’ CBS used to call the videos in this way. This short film contain only live footages. Yet we know that there was nothing random in everything the King did, so he wanted to leave us a gift also here. Apart of some scenes of fans in ecstasy, taken at the concert in Paris, all the audio track and the main footage of the song are taken from the famous concert in Wembley, on Jul 16, 1988.
The King had special guests attending, that night in London: the Royal Family, we already talked about that. One above all: a Princess whom he admired, a Princess who loved him as an artist among her favourites. We can see this princess in the video too: it’s about 20 seconds from the beginning, between Tina Turner and Sophia Loren.
For respect to the Princess, the King decided do take one song off the set list for this concert. The song that he had recently released as a single, the song the we earlier did not mention.
