A wonderful third last

Really the last classified songs in Sanremo 1986 deserved so much more: Stadio, Zucchero with his sad song, but also the third last classified song really made us shiver!!! Also for Rossana’s 80s outfit!! Rossana was and is really a fantastic singer!

From Rome to Sanremo

We just said that 1986 wasn’t an historic edition of Sanremo overall, but there were surely some very beautiful songs. After Ramazzotti and Stadio, there was this great young singer with this fantastic iconic song. A kind of instagram from Rome, but 30 years ago!

And the last will be the first

the magic of Sanremo is that, of course, the winner always finds great success, but very often also the last classified song turns out to be a very beautiful evergreen. It happened in 1984 with Stadio, and it happened again in 1986 with… Stadio. But this song is fantastic, an elegy.

Here we go again!

Another year, another festival of Sanremo beginning in these very days. 1986 edition was probably not the best of the 80s but indeed featured also some great songs. But tradition wants us to start from the winner, who became in those years appreciated in all Europe. And he still represents a kind of made in Italy in pop music.

The Heritage of Switzerland

I was thinking… Austria left us Falco and Opus; Netherlands, Mel and Kim, Germany Twins, Nena and many others, Norway, a-Ha… and what about Switzerland? Really nothing from Switzerland? Of course! Switzerland left us Double and their iconic, unique song!

So sober and decent

The eighties were full of sober and decent characters, so charming and elegant, never out of their place. In every day’s life, in music, in the movies, always regular and reliable people. And exactly 30 years ago you could go and see these regular people in some movie. One of them for example was named Rocky Balboa,

Simple Minds – Sanctify yourself

“Sanctify yourself” represents, in my opinion, a sort of manifest of what Simple Minds were between 1985 and 1986. Probably not their purest period, but definitely their most successful period in terms of sales. Looking at the tile, maybe Jim Kerr did not really respect the commandments,

Talk Talk – Life’s what you make it

“Life’s what you make it” is definitely a song with a great title. And it is surely great song, even after more than 30 years. I didn’t like the video, I must say, insects, animals… but some may like it as well!

White nights

A beautiful movie of #30yrsago, early 1986. Featuring russian dancer Mikhail Barishnikov, and it was about a russina dancer looking to expatriate, then he happens to be in New York and actually has the chance to do it but… will it be safe? The soundtrack was by Phil Collins.
