Simply Red – Come to my aid

“Come to my aid” requires us to tell the story of a genius. A funny happy face and red hair. His friends call him simply “Red”. He is also a Manchester United supporter, so the nickname “Red” sounds quite nice to him. His name is Mick Hucknall and wants to be a singer. Mick creates a group with other musicians and friends he had met in previous experiences. It is 1985, and they choose the name… “Simply Red”.

In October 1985 they release their first fantastic album, “Picture Book”. The album contains their biggest hit, that they released some months earlier, “Money’s too tight (to mention)”. The first song of the album, however, is another fantastic hit, called “Come to my aid”. And few weeks later this hit arrives straight on top of the charts in many European countries. But this is history! In 1985 Simply Red were a new group, a good promise for pop fans.

Today, more than 30 years later, we know that Mick Hucknall and Simply Red were real icons and symbols of the 80s! One of those groups that everybody loved and still love with great passion and affection, as we can see from the crowd in their concerts! Mick is a big fan of Italy and today he lives in Sicily where he is also a wine producer.
