Cutting Crew – (I Just) Died In Your Arms
I can tell you… you heard “Died in your arms” maybe playing GTA Vice City, or maybe you heard Mika’s Relax take it easy, a song that absolutely looked like this twenty years later! Or maybe, after thirty years, you still have Cutting Crew buzzing in your ears!
Actually this was their most famous hit, and it was the first song produced by Virgin Records to reach number 1 in the US. The song is inspired, or better, is the reminiscence of a real thing, a love night between frontman Nick Van Eede and his girlfriend, after being apart for a whole year.
I guess it was a nice memory, since they later had a daughter together, even if at the moment Nick was not so sure that starting the relationship over was the right thing to do. Actually in the lyrics he says that he should have walked away. It’s great that he didn’t, or we would have lost a gem of the 80s!

On the surface I'm a name on a list
I try to be discreet but then blow it again
I've lost and found it's my final mistake
She's loving by proxy, no give and all take
