The Blow Monkeys – It doesn’t have to be this way
Talento e stile: questo erano i Blow Monkeys. Probabilmente non sono passati alla storia come altre icone degli anni 80, ma vi assicuro che di stile, talento e classe Dr. Robert e i suoi “The Blow Monkeys” ne avevano da vendere. E del resto basta sentire questo pop molto sofisticato, quasi jazz, e basta vedere con ironia questo fantastico video e pensare che viene da un concept album di protesta verso Margaret Thatcher e il periodo di lacrime e sangue che impose al Regno Unito.
E in effetti questo album, che fu un grandissimo successo in Inghilterra, era intitolato “She Was Only a Grocer’s Daughter”.
Geniali, senza alcun dubbio. Si può dire tutto, ma negli anni 80 c’era in giro molto più talento di quello che sembrava! E “It doesn’t have to be this way”, una delle più famose canzoni dei Blow Monkeys, lo dimostra tutto, e conferma tutte le belle sensazioni che un anno prima avevamo avuto con “Digging your scene“.
