“Bamboleo” is definitely one of the hits created at the end of the 80s. The Gipsy Kings wrote and published it first in 1987, and then reissued it in Europe in mid 1988. It became quickly one of the soundtracks of Summer 1988. So we can definitely talk about this hit while we talk about the summer hits of 1988.

Actually, I consider this hit like a song out of time. I think that very few people, if you ask them to name a song of the 80s, would say “Bamboleo”. Yet Gipsy Kings’ music became sort of timeless. You cannot find a party, after more than 30 years, without at least a hit of Gipsy Kings!

Gipsy Kings actually were really Party Kings, because they created many other hits that became evergreen party hits, some even before “Bamboleo”, others later.

And I think that this is the most beautiful and most important thing: that the Gipsy Kings with their catalan rumbas still bring the sound of the 80s in all the disco parties in the world, and make both old and new generation dance with their hits!
