Actually when you go away you should turn off the light… unless you know you will need it when you get back! And this is the core of “Leave a light on”, the first single and video from Belinda Carlisle’s album “Runaway horses”. It happened about 18 months after the days of “Circle in the sand” and “I get weak“, and about two years after “Heaven is a place on heart“.

It’s a sensible topic; you part from a relationship in order to find yourself or maybe to look for yourself. But you don’t close the door, in case you are going to return when it will be the right time. Actually, you are explixitly stating that one day you will return and you will need a light on… assuming to fine someone still waiting for you, Belinda!

The final part of the 80s was one of the best period for former Go-Go’s singer, and after this hit she will once again impress us in few weeks with another of her major hits.

#quotefromthe80s

Just how far I have to go

But darling I'll keep the key

Just leave a light on for me
