Terence Trent D’Arby – Wishing well
#quotefromthe80s
Kissing like a bandit stealing time underneath a sycamore tree.
Cupid by the hour sends Valentines to my sweet lover and me.
Slowly, but surely your appetite is more than I knew.
Sweetly, softly I'm falling in love with you.

A wishing well – who would not find one? When you are a genius, strange things happen. It happens that inspiration comes in moments when you’re out of your mind, or sleeping, and somebody appears in your dreams. I don’t really know how it works, I’d be a genius otherwise, but I heard this before. I know that even Falco used to tell that Mozart had appeared in his dreams, advising him to write “Rock me Amadeus” so that Salieri would have gone mad.
This situation happened frequently to Terence Trent D’Arby, in my opinion, and no doubt he was and still is a genius. And he himself once mentioned something similar about this song, 30 years ago. He released this hit as the second single from his iconic album “The Hardline”, how we friendly called it.
TTD said that he wrote this song “when I was in a half-asleep, half-awake state of mind”, and that he “liked the feel of the words”. Anyway, it’s a fantastic song! And it’s also fantastic the idea to create some sort of serial with all the videos of this album! He started with “If you let me stay” and… he will continue!
