Ghosts in November

Simple Minds – Ghost dancing

Ghost dancing, but the witches are nowadays definitely off. But in 1986, it was not common to celebrate Halloween outside the USA, but in November it was full of ghosts. Dancing. On very beautiful songs!!

Simple Minds released “Ghost dancing” as the fourth single from the outstanding album “Once upon a time”, after “Alive and kicking“, “Sanctify yourself” and “All the things she said“.

I think Simple Minds in these years were living the highest moment of their popularity. When I think of their best lineup, I think of these videos and this period. That is, with Mel Gaynor on drums and the fantastic voice of Robin Clarke on additional vocals (with her such glamorous look).

Actually this album came out after the great and partially unexpected success of “Don’t you (forget about me)“. It somehow forced Simple Minds to decide whether to remain a new wave band (but we were in the middle of the 80s). Or, they had the choice to become more popular and get out of their niche. And I think they did the right thing!!

Cities, buildings falling down
Satellites come crashing down
I see them falling out the skies like eagles
