Debbie Gibson – Lost in your eyes
“Lost in your eyes” is probably Debbie Gibson’s greatest hit. And if I think of 1989, I think Debbie really was the first in many senses. First, because she released her second album, “Electric Youth”, in the very first days of the year. And even this fantastic song came out on January 6! The name of Debbie Gibson became worldwide famous about nine months earlier, in Spring 1988. In that period, she found an emormous success with “Only in my dreams“.
Many could think that Debbie would become some sort of a meteor. I mean, a beautiful girl, just singing a handsome tune. Very hard to repeat that kind of success again. But Debbie, few months later, showed a great lesson to the world! Not only she found even greater success as a singer, but she also won a fantastic award! In fact, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers voted Debbie Gibson as best songwriter of 1989 (together with Bruce Springsteen)!
We can really say that in many senses Debbie Gibson was… the first in 1989!

I just fell, don't know why
Something's there we can't deny
And when I first knew
Was when I first looked at you
