The 30 rule is clear to us: we live now in 2017 but we like to pretend that we are living in 1987 and listening to all that good music day by day. But the 30 rule existed in 1987 as well! In these very days it was common to hear a song (and it reached no 1 in the UK charts) which was released.. in 1957!
And it was no cover, it was the original “Reet Petite” song (with just a minor change in the subtitle): the singer passed away three years before when the song was used for a cartoon show and was so successful that it actually reached number 1 and set a record (which was recently overcome, by the way): the song which took the longest time between the release and the reach of number 1. It took… 30 years!!!
