Europe – The final countdown
“The final countdown” is much more that a fantastic hit of a metal band. Northern Europe has always been rich of heavy metal bands, compared to other zones. That’s why, in 1986, if an unknown metal group releases a new album, nobody cares about it. But… if this band after all is a pop band, non so angry like other metal bands, if it feature some longhaired fashionable boys, if the boys have fantastic names like Joey Tempest or Key Marcello, an especially if they have a fantastic song with an unfrogettable bridge like this… then we still remember them after 30 years!!!
Back to serious now, “The final countdown” is definitely an icon song of the 80s. Maybe it’s the first icon song of the second half of the 80s. And originally Joey Tempest planned to create just a refrain to open the concerts! It became a full song, with an instant success. This skyrocketed Europe… yes, directly to the space!

We're leaving ground (leaving ground)
Will things ever be the same again?
