Samantha Fox – Touch me (I want your body)

#quotefromthe80s
Hot and cold emotion, confusing my brain
I could not decide, between pleasure and pain
Like a tramp in the night, I was begging for you
To treat my body like you wanted to

On 10 March 1986, one of the absolute protagonists of the iconography of the 80s, or at least of the second part, released her debut single by in the United Kingdom. A woman who wanted and knew how to set her career and private life without compromise and without fear of the judgment of others, a true icon of independence and emancipation.

In fact, even before debuting as a singer she was already quite popular especially in the UK, thanks to her photographs that appeared in several magazines and newspapers. Samantha Fox’s fantastic career began like this: her mother sent some of her pictures to photo beauty contests, convinced that although she did not perhaps have the height and body necessary to become a supermodel, she still had outstanding beauty and appeal. And she was right, because within a short time Samantha appeared, seventeen years old and with the consent of her parents, topless in the famous photos on page 3 of the “Sun”, one of the most desirable showcases for aspiring models and actresses.

In a short time she and the third page of the Sun became an indissoluble combination: she was increasingly famous, and the newspaper’s sales increased. And so for three consecutive years she won a “girl of the year” award among those that appeared on the famous third page.

In 1986, however, her career took a fundamental turn, when she decided to stop the unveiled photos and to focus on music, since she had prevously made studies and experiences in singing and acting. In fact, she would have posed a few more times during newspaper anniversaries, and the last time in 2008 at the age of forty-two, fantastically shown.

For all the Dinosaurs of the 80s, Samantha Fox is above all the icon who with her songs full of energy and of course also her physicality awakened the desires, but also the desire to dance, of a generation of European males.

And so, in March 1986, she released this song destined to remain forever in the iconography of the 80s. Touch me (I want your body) was really an irresistible song, perfect for Samantha’s voice. The text was of course more than an allusion, it was an explicit invitation to contact, once Samantha had finally found the right partner. The song, however, was not dirty, it was certainly intended for a young audience full of energy and desire to socialize, but it did not contain anything that could be undesirable, as happened for example to Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Samantha, beautiful and full of energy, appears completely covered in the video, with jeans, a T-shirt and a denim jacket during the reconstruction of a live performance. I mean, a rocker, more than a fatal woman. A rocker who, however, is aware of her beauty and plays with her sensuality.

The song was obviously a resounding success and launched the career of Samantha, who became an absolute protagonist of those years despite a limited number of great successes. An icon of the LGBT world, Samantha Fox went through a series of important personal events, but managed to remain one of the strongest symbols of the entire 80s.
