A sensible poet

Sting – We’ll be together

“We’ll be together” is the signature of a sensible poet. This was Sting in October 1987, 30 years ago, when he released “Nothing Like The Sun”. This album was quite different from the previous “The dream of the blue turtles”. Darker, probably due to a difficult private period, more mature than the previous album. The page with the Police was turned: he still worked and played with Andy and Stewart, but it was a different career now. Sensible to political battles in far away countries, influenced by a classical English culture, as in the quote that titles the album.

A wonderful album, this is no doubt. An album featuring other milestone songs for Sting and for the whole decade, like “Englishman in New York” or “They dance alone“.

To have you with me, I would swim the seven seas
I need you as my guide and my light
My love is a flame that burns in your name
