Funkytown is a song of the early 80s… but thinking about it … when did the 80s start?
Certainly not on new year’s Eve, 1980. That was a typical year of the 70s: US boycotting the Moscow Olympics, trains and planes exploding in Italy… it all sounded so much like the 70s! These things could never happen in the 80s! I cannot say yet when the 80s really started; it’s a kind of revelation that must be preceeded by a path of self-awareness; but we will soon talk about it, when we prepare to celebrate the true 30 yrs anniversary of the beginning of the 80s. To have the ultimate proof that the 1980 was still part of the 70s, listen to this song. It is considered a symbol of 70’s disco music.
