Pet Shop Boys and Dusty Springfield – What have I done to deserve this?
“What have I done to deserve this” is a fascinating song. I mean, some songs are fascinating. Maybe they are not the best ones in a career, have nothing to share with all the others, they may be somehow ordinary, but still have something peculiar, maybe in the video or in the lyrics or in the rhythm, but definitely are going to stay. Pet Shop Boys created uncountable successful hits, but in August 1987 they were everywhere with this song from their album “Actually”, a nice song but apparently less peculiar than others. Yet it was weird, in the song and in the video, the extremely glamour presence of Dusty Springfield, a sort of icon in the UK, so I guess it must have been memorable for Neil and Chris to have her featuring in one of their songs! So, final judgement: a worldwide success!!!
