Transvision Vamp – Baby I don’t care
Velvet was really popular in 1989! In fact, few months after the great success of Alannah Myles with “Black velvet“, we could find another great album, very successful especially in the English-speaking countries, called “Velveteen”.
Actually, the album reached the market after Summer, but already in these days the radios were sending the first single. The song was very energic, and I think that this group found success just a little too late.
In fact, if Wendy James and her Transvision Vamp had found success two or three years earlier, I think they would have played at the same level with Patsy Kensit and Eighth Wonder! And who knows, maybe Pet Shop Boys would have written songs for Wendy as well, and maybe we could see a different story… maybe Jim Kerr could have married Wendy James!
Anyway, about one year after the amazing success of “I want your love“, Transvision Vamp found an even greater popularity. Wendy was outstanding, sexy and irresistible.. She could have said or sung anything. The fame of Transvision Vamp was absolutely linked to the image of Wendy James.
Transvision Vamp split in 1991, soon after the end of the 80s. Wendy remained in the music world, but she could not find that level of popularity again as she had done in 1988 and 89.

And you don't have to say any prayers
No you don't have to say you love me, Baby it's alright
Cos honey I don't care, oh baby I don't care
Oh honey I don't care, oh honey I don't care
