Johnny Hates Jazz – I dont want to be a hero
“I dont want to be a hero” is definitely one of the most popular hits of Johnny Hates Jazz.
30 years ago, in August 1987, they released their second single from the album “Turn back the clock”. It came after another great success, “Shattered Dreams“. So they released this anti-war, anti-army song. Which by the way might be understandable as an argument, but the song was definitely out of time! Dear Clark from JHJ, no worries: you had no risk to go to war in 1987, because actually there was no risk of war at all!!!
#quotefromthe80s
Oh send me off to war in a far away land
I never knew existed
Subject me to the truth to the horror and pain
Until my mind is twisted
